Sunday, Sunday

Megan made it home late last nite. Debbie and I picked her up at the OKC airport. Since Megan's flight did not arrive until 9 pm, Debbie and I stayed at a hotel not far from the airport. We didn't want toget home late and then get up early to go back to OKC. We hung out at the hotel until it was time to get Megan. I was tracking her flight from Dallas and we left when it appeared that the plane was still between OKC and Dallas. As we were driving up to the airport terminal, Megan called and said she was waiting for her luggage. Apparently, the "real time" flight tracker is nowhere close to "real time". Anyway, it turned out good because I parked just outside the door of the baggage claim area so Megan didn't have to walk too far to meet us. Sounds like she had a good time. She had to drive home by herself because she has an organic science class at 7:30 am on Monday morning. yikes. I thought the seismic design class at 7:30 in the morning was bad. Not sure how she pulled it off, but Debbie said she never had any 7:30 am classes. I had a bunch of engineering and math courses at 7:30. Something wrong about that.

Debbie and I tried a new restaurant last nite. Kona Ranch steakhouse. Debbie tried their prime rib and I got grilled salmon. Good meals. There was a notice in the menu that the steaks had the Nolan Ryan guarantee of tenderness. Not sure what that's about. Need to do some research and see if Nolan Ryan owns the restaurant or provides the beef.

Have a good day.

Happy Birthday, Megan!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear Megan. Happy birthday to you. 21 years ago, Megan Colleen Dean was born. Debbie had labor induced early in the day. Later in the day, I don't remember the time but I'm sure Debbie remembers, Debbie told the nurse she had to push. The nurse said something about that not being possible. The nurse checked Debbie's dialation and immediately went into what appeared to be a controlled panic. Somehow, the nurse told someone to call the doctor. She started telling me to unhook and unplug stuff connected to the bed and the wall and I don't remember what else because we gotta get Mrs. Dean into the delivery room because this baby is coming! Whoa. They just barely got Debbie into the delivery room and the doc was there delivering Megan. Amazing. Megan was the most wiggly baby to hold. She would sit on your lap and kick her feet and wave her arms constantly. She loved to look at herself in a mirror. Nothing's changed there. LOL. She loved kitties. When we lived in the 2 story house on Chester, we seemed to have kittens all the time. Megan would sit on the front porch with a lap full of kitties. She could fall asleep anywhere. We have a bunch of photos of her crashed on the floor or the couch with a book in her lap. Or at the dining table having fallen asleep after eating dinner or lunch. She used to stick her tongue out at Debbie when Debbie told her not to do something. Debbie told her to stop sticking her tongue out. So Megan stopped, but you could see her tongue pushing her cheek out the side of her face. LOL. We can all tell when Megan gets angry about something. Her lower jaw protrudes forward. hee hee. She's one of the grumpiest, and most fun (at least for me), people to wake up in the morning. Now she's one year away from graduating from OSU and moving on with her life as an adult. Love ya to pieces and very proud of you, Megan. Have a happy birthday and have fun in New Orleans.

Ain't he cute!

You might have found this story on the internet or saw it on television. Just in case you missed it, I am posting it here cuz just the photo is hilarious and even more so after you read the story

Oysters

About two hours ago, I received a text message from Megan, "I just at a raw oyster!!" I responded, "When does the puking begin?" How daggone hungry did the first person have to be to eat one of those? gag.

Went downhill fast

Man, when a day starts out really good, you should be suspicious. I had a huge project due today at noon. Get to the office in a pretty good mood. Glad to get this job off the desk. Did one final review of the drawings and sent copies to the printers to have large sheets printed of the drawings. Planned to send the sealed and signed drawings to the architect and then have lunch with Debbie. It took a bit longer than I expected to get the copies ready for the printer. The drawings came back just in time for me to sign them and then go to lunch. Ah. Got that out of the way. Debbie and I went to a restaurant that I went to several years ago that had a great Cobb salad. Debbie and I both like Cobb salads, though neither of us know why it is called a Cobb salad. Not much cob in the ones we've had. But, they are a good chef salad. Anyway, the restaurant is closed. Permanently, or so it appears. A bit of a snafu, but not a huge one although we drove several miles to get there. Luckily, there was a good BBQ restaurant not far away. We had a good lunch. I had some great ribs and Debbie had a salad with smoked chicken. I take Deb back to her office and return to mine. I sit down to start another task and get a phone call from an architect. The contractor in Norman wants to know if I can review the concrete mix designs that the architect sent to me yesterday. Contractor needs them today. OK. Won't take long to do that. Just as I start that, the wheels start coming off the happy bus. The architect for the big project, the one I just finished making copies for, calls and said he only received 20 of the 27 sheets that I had printed. ruh roh. OK. I will resend the copies to the printer and have new ones made. I sent the 7 missing sheets to the printers. They are only a few blocks away and usually have hard copies in our office within 10 minutes of us sending the files by email. 30 minutes later, nuthin'. 45 minutes later, nuthin'. I resend the files. Another 20 minutes, and nuthin'. I decide to print them myself using the piece o' crap plotter that has a mind of its own. About 5 attempts to plot using that boat anchor piece of garbage plotter and as I am seriously contemplating tossing the plotter out the front door whilst avoiding hitting any windshields, the phone rings. The printing company cannot use the files I sent almost 2 hours ago. They are corrupted somehow. Just as I hang up with that guy, the architect calls and says he's waiting for the missing sheets. I am efforting and hope to have the drawings PDQ. I recreate the copies, send them to the printing company, and within about 5 minutes the guy is delivering the sheets. Friday the 13th is unlucky, huh? Whatevah! Thursday the 13th ain't so hot either, Bub. I took the signed drawings to the architect who was waiting in downtown OKC. I sat down to start the submittal review that the other guy asked me to get out today. The phone rings. ruh roh. A third architect wants to know if I sent the drawings to him by overnite mail. No. I told him I would not have that stuff ready until tomorrow afternoon. Oh. He misunderstood and thought I meant he would have them tomorrow. He's in Tulsa, by the way. Can I have the drawings to him first thing in the morning? Thursday the 13th, huh? dang. I'm thinkin' there will be some road rage on the way home...

Have a better day.

Mornin'

Nice morning today. For one thing, Debbie and Kelsey made it back to Stillwater last nite. So I had my shotgun rider back today. hee hee. We went to Longhorn Steakhouse for dinner last nite. Always a good place to eat. Kelsey didn't stick around the house long as her friends were bugging her to go hang out. Her story was, "You guys are going to bed soon, aren't ya?" LOL

Jupiter is very visible in the nite sky right now. Hopefully there won't be too many clouds this weekend as I plan to drag the telescope outside and check it out. I took Debbie outside to show it to her and while we were looking up anyway, we looked for some meteors. It was kinda early probably, 10 or so, but I saw three good ones and Debbie saw one good one before we decided we were too tired to stay outside any more. I had been up since 3:30 that morning, so I was really pooped. Laura posted on facebook that she saw a bunch on Tuesday nite. Hope she saw some more last nite. It's fun to see them, especially if you see alot of them.

Speaking of planets, I saw this article on Yahoo this morning. Nerdage to the max, but I love this stuff. Astronomers find a planet orbiting the wrong way. Maybe not everyone's topic of interest, but definitely one of mine.

Anyway, have a good day.

Seemed like a good idea at the time

Getting up at 3:30 this morning to go outside and look for meteors seemed like a great, adventurous idea at the time. At 9:20 am and looking back, that early morning decision sure was stupid. My eyelids are going into business for themselves and trying to close shop. MORE COFFEE!!!
