Storm clouds

Good Tuesday morning. Hope all is well.

Everyone enjoy the cold front that moved through Oklahoma last nite? Kinda odd occurrence. Thin line of storms that stretched from the Red River to Kansas City. I took several photos that you can see by clicking on the button next to "get yours" in the previous post. Still not sure why the slideshow isn't working. It started raining very hard not long after I took those photos.

Yesterday's post mentioned the iphone application for the Bic lighter. Today, I learned about another application. The "Pull My Finger" application. Yup, it's what you think it is. Tired of sitting around with your friends and straining to cut the cheese? Strain no more. Download the application and you, too, can pass gas with the best of them using your cellphone. Best part about this is you don't have to worry about accidentally pooping your pants. Make sure you don't use the Freebird cigarette lighter application immediately after using the Pull My Finger application. How could you explain the need to replace your damaged cellphone because you accidentally lit a virtual fart?

"Can I help you, sir?"

"Yes. I need to replace my phone."

"What happened?"

"It exploded."

"What?"

"It exploded after I used the Freebird application after using the Pull My Finger application. I was just standing there and suddenly, KABAM!!! Look, I burned my fingers."

"Sir, your warranty does not cover cellphone damage caused by accidentally igniting virtual methane with a virtual cigarette lighter. You should know better."

wow. Who knew you could break a windshield and light farts with a cellphone?

Have a good one and be careful how you use your cellphone.

Man, we are getting lazy

Good Monday morning. Looks like a beautiful spring day today. Partly cloudy. Some wind. Temperature in the upper 60's. Hard to believe that about 100 miles northwest of Stillwater they had about 2 feet of snow fall on Friday and Saturday. wow.

When was the last time anyone went to a good rock concert? Back in the good ole days, we'd go to a concert and flick a Bic when a great song like Freebird started playing. Now, if you flick a Bic you might get booted from the venue. Open flames are no longer allowed. Just like drinking from the water hose and using a rotary telephone, gone are the days of carrying a Bic lighter into the concert and showing the band your appreciation for a great song by hoisting aloft a tiny flame with hundreds of other fans. Today you must use the artificial light of your cell phone. But, hey! If you want to simulate the tiny flame, the makers of the iphone have a solution. The MyLighter application can be used to show a photo of a Bic lighter on your iphone screen. Yup, a photo of a Bic lighter. It's called the Freebird. Go figger. What will they think of next? Oh, don't like the Bic lighter photo? What about a glowstick? Attending a memorial ceremony? Use a photo of the candle.

Kinda funny thinking about the stuff we used to do for real and now do on computers or our cell phone. We don't go outside and play tennis anymore. But we do play tennis on Wii. Anyone play a real pickup game of baseball lately? Or wiffle ball? Who wants to go outside and breathe in the pollen when we can stay in the house and play Wii? I don't have Wii, but I still have my Nintendo 64 Ken Griffey home run derby game. When was the last time you wrote a letter to a friend or relative? Not for a while I'd bet. Now we have blogs, Facebook, Myspace and email. I tried to write a letter not long ago. My hand cramped up. Not sure if it was arthritis or I was out of shape. Maybe both. Typing is alot easier than printing or writing in cursive. Call anyone lately just to chat? Or did you just send a text message?

How long will it be before we become the fat people in the Wall-E movie? Computers and robots doing everything for us? We just move from place to place in a chair. I don't want to mow the lawn. Let the automated lawn mower do it for me. Heck, why have grass at all? I don't go outside anyway. Eventually, I'll have a patch of artificial grass in my closet that I can pull out when I'm playing my Ken Griffey home run derby game. You know, that patch of grass that spurts the artificial smell of freshly cut grass when I step on the artificial grass with my virtual ballglove to catch the virtual ball hit by the virtual Ken Griffey. I don't want to walk the dog and clean up the poop. I'll get a holographic image of a German Shepherd instead that will chase virtual balls around the virtual backyard. I can virtually throw the balls with a flick of my wrist using my Wii remote. Whew, I'm tired thinking about all that.

I got the fat part taken care of. Where are the robots? Man, I am getting lazy. hee hee.

There are alot of things we used to do that are now performed using an electronic device of some sort. Very interesting to think about how our lives have changed over the last 30 years. Cable television and hundreds of channels available for us to view practically anything today. It wasn't that long ago that we had just a few channels and needed an antenna. The antenna and foil is gone and hi-def signals are all we have. Well, at least in the very near future. Remote controls to channel surf instead of having one of the kids stand in front of the tv and turn the knob. A knob on the tv? "What the heck are you talking about?"

I still drink out of the water hose on occasion. I remember how to dial a rotary phone. Not sure that's useful knowledge, tho. hee hee. Have a good day.

March snow

The link from photobucket does not appear to be working for some reason. You can view the photos by clicking the button at the right of "get yours" and go to the photobucket site.

We did not get the 6 inches predicted. Maybe an inch. It snowed from about 9:30 am til about 3 pm. By sunset, the majority of the snow had melted. It will be completely gone by the end of today. Not even enough for sliding down hills. Although, some kids were trying hard at the detention pond a block south of the house.

Apparently the snow fell heavily west, north and east of us. About 2 feet northwest of us and about a foot not far north. Heard that Tulsa got several inches.

Have a good Sunday.

Prairie Fire

Last nite on the way home from OKC, we were about half way between Guthrie and the Highway 51 exit off of I-35. For those of you familiar with the drive from OKC to Stillwater along I-35, we could see smoke and flames as we crested a hill just south of the Cimarron River bridge. At that point, we were approximately 10 miles from Highway 51 and about 12 miles from the fires. After we got off of I-35 onto Highway 51, we stopped near a restaurant near the exit and took several photos which are in the slideshow in the previous post. The flames were huge. The photos do not do the blazes justice at all. At that point, we were not sure how far east and south the fire was located. As it turns out, the fire was about 2 miles east and 1-1/2 miles south of where we were taking photos. We drove two miles east and then south along the county road to the fire. Apparently, someone started burning brush piles and the flames spread west and south from near the house and barns in the fourth photo. The last photo shows a flaming brush pile and flames in the background. The fire appeared to have spread about a mile west and south of the house. Most of the big blazes were caused by burning cedar trees. Amazing stuff.

Blogger testing

I am trying to figure out how to use this blog site. Yesterday, I attempted to post photos from photobucket. It worked until I edited the post, which somehow corrupted the slideshow associated with the link. The link still worked, but the slideshow no longer worked. Instead, we can see the rotating icon. So, I recreated the link with the slideshow as you can see in the previous post. Now, there are three posts through which you can access the photos. Fun stuff, huh? LOL.

Wierd thing is the slideshow is in reverse order of how the photos are posted on photobucket. Go figger.

Tara's visit

This is the same as the previous post, just in a different way. The photos are the same. Just trying to figure out how to post photos on this blog from other sites. Click the button next to "get yours" and you will go to the photobucket website.

Tara's visit

I hope this link works. The link will take you to several photos taken during Tara's visit to Stillwater last week.

You should be able to click "slideshow" near the upper right area of the photos. Let me know if this doesn't work.

Dream analysis needed

I've heard that dreams are the window to the soul. Or was that the eyes? Not edzakary sure, but I'm pretty certain someone said something about dreams having some sort of meaning about something. I had some doozies Saturday nite and have no idea what the dreams mean.

One dream involved several women and apes chasing me all over the place. I cannot identify the women because they were always in the distance. I did say "women" and not "woman". A plurality of females. Wife and chilluns? Don't believe so because I had the distinct feeling I did not know any of the women. I had the feeling they were angry about something, otherwise, why would they be chasing me? I have no idea why they would be chasing me. Why would women be pissed at me? I'm not a chauvenist. Heck, I'm not sure how to spell it. Maybe the women were pissed that I could outrun them? I am sure there was a real need to outrun them because they were pissed off. I don't recall any of them being close enough to verbally express their anger. I just know they were angry and I needed to run fast. I do recall they were all wearing pastel blouses. Not sure why that stands out in my mind, but it does. I have to wonder if they were pissed off because I made a smartass comment about pastel blouses. Nah, not me. When do I make smartassed comments about anything? Besides that, why were the apes chasing me? I think they were chimpanzees, but I'm not sure. I am certain that the apes were able to catch me because at least two of them caught me and jumped on my back. What should a person do when an ape jumps on your back during a dream? All I know is you stab them with large knives. The first ape jumped on my back out of nowhere. Well, sort of. I remember running through an open area away from the women. Then, I was in a building with tall walls or bookshelves with narrow aisles or corridors. The first ape jumped on me in the building. When it was on my back, I somehow had a large knife in each hand and reached over my shoulder and stabbed the ape in the neck. No more ape. Kinda like a video game. Stab the ape and it's gone. Why knives and stabbing? Why didn't I magically have some sort of kung-fu-like ability? I mean, it is a dream. I could have had any sort of ability. I could have been a sorcerer and touched the ape with my fingertip and turned it into a purple butterfly or something. But no, I stab the ape in the neck. I'm lucky that my aim was good enough to stab the ape instead of stabbing myself. Anyway, I continued running through the corridors with the women still chasing me. Another ape jumped on my back and I stabbed that one in the side. It disappeared. I turned around and a giant ape was in the corridor. It grabbed me by my wrists. I woke up. Dammit. I don't know if I was able to escape or if I was eaten by the apes or if the angry mob of women caught up and bitchslapped me to death or what. What does it all mean?

I dunno cuz when I woke up, Kelsey and one of her friends were milling around the house. I could hear the TV. I could hear people walking up and down the hallway. The bathroom light was turned on a few times. Then they left and I eventually went back to sleep.

Dream number two. A large crowd of short, fat men were chasing me. Very short, very fat guys. Dwarfish. They were not running so much as, well, waddling. Thighs rubbing. Arms flailing. Guts bouncing. Waddling. All of them were wearing pastel t-shirts and their belly buttons were hanging out of the bottoms of their shirts. Not just their belly buttons but most of the flabby stomachs. Not sure why they were chasing me but they were clearly pissed off about something. I could hear yelling but no distinct words. I kinda remember an f-bomb or two but that's it. I could hear a strange sound as they ran... kinda like two pieces of corduroy being rubbed together. hmmm. Somehow we end up in that building with the tall walls and narrow corridors again. I passed through several doors and ended up in a large room where the fat guys cornered me. No escape. I woke up. No knives. No fancy kung-fu moves or samarai swordplay like on Kill Bill. Nothin'. I woke up wondering, "Huh?"

There is some commonality between the two dreams. Angry hominoids. Chasing. Pastel shirts. Tall walls. Narrow corridors. My subconscious is telling myself to avoid indoor Easter egg hunts? Maybe no chips and hot salsa before bedtime?

Chance of snow Friday and Saturday. sheesh.

Have a good one.

old blog

I don't know if this link will work properly, but it should get you to the Yahoo 360 blog and the entries from June 2008 to today. The blog author is not accepting any responsibility for any loss of IQ resulting from reading the entries on the old blog. Or this blog for that matter.

Crazy nite of storms

Dude! It stormed practically all nite!!! The wind was blowing about 40 mph all stinkin' nite. I had a hard time getting to sleep. Not so for Debbie. She zonked out within 5 minutes of laying down. Kelsey's bedroom window as open and it caused our bedroom door to rattle each time there was a gust of wind. I didn't realize what was causing the door to rattle until after midnite. After I closed her window, no more door rattling. I believe the wind was trying to blow the furnace vent pipe off of the house. The attic vent "whirlybirds" were rattling like crazy as the wind caused them to spin madly. Not sure what time I finally fell asleep, but it was after 1 am for sure. About 3:30 am, it started raining really hard. Then hailing hard. Again. Kelsey's cat, Henry, started going crazy and meowing very loudly. I got up and turned on the television expecting to learn of a tornado warning or something. Nope. Just a strong thunderstorm passing thru. Man, it's gonna be a long day after a couple of hours sleep.

Sun is shining brightly. But it is cold. Upper 40's. brrr.

I can see dents in the top and hood of the Mazda 6. Those are dents from the hail that fell yesterday evening and likely from the early morning shotpeening. Dangit.

The Weather Channel showed there was a tornado warning southwest of Vinita around 5:30 am this morning. Later the radar showed the storm passing through the Miami area. Hope everyone is ok and no damage to houses.

Anyway, have a good day.

Whoa! It's hailing!!

Severe storms in the area tonite. As Debbie and I arrived in Stillwater, we saw a thunderstorm west of town and took a couple of photos. About 30 minutes after we got home, it started hailing. Alot. At first, small pea sized hail. Then, alot of quarter or ping pong ball sized hail. Luckily it didn't last too long, but long enough. I can see several dings on Deb's CX9 hood. I haven't looked at the Mazda 6 yet. We'll probably have an insurance claim. Dang.

The wind is blowing like crazy. Winds must be near 30 mph right now with stronger gusts. It's been blowing like that all day. We heard a large bang not long ago and it sounded like something fell off the house. I can't find anything, tho.

Storm west of town at about 7 pm.

All the white stuff is hail. Lotsa hail.

One of the bigger ones.

first entry on new blog

Started a new blog site. Yahoo was having problems. Posting entries and not seeing them later. Hopefully this site is easier for me to use and everyone to access.
