Procrastination bites

Thomas Jefferson once said something to the effect of "never put off until tomorrow what you can do today."  Well, yesterday I felt like putting off stuff until tomorrow.  Today is yesterday's tomorrow so I guess I gotta do those things that I felt like putting off until tomorrow.  Tomorrow is, um, well... tomorrow.  Until tomorrow gets here and becomes... today.  And today becomes yesterday in a deja vu kind of way.  If I could look through a time portal at myself in yesterday's world, what would I say?  "Quit farting around and get busy, you lazy ass!  Look at all of this crap I have to do today!"  Anyway, I could just keep kicking the can forward another day until tomorrow... again.  Procrastination bites ya in the ass sooner or later and ya just gotta get stuff done.  OK.  Back to work. Or as my time portal viewing self would tell me from tomorrow's world, "Get to work!"

Lazy

I must have been visited by the Don't-Wanna-Do-It Fairy last nite because I sure have a bad case of put-it-off-til-tomorrow-itis going on.  Much difficulty in motivating myself today.

Megan is moving to Edmond today.  She has an apartment not too far from I-35 along 2nd Street.  Debbie went to Fairland and finished the purchase of Lillian's Oldsmobile for Megan.  Megan is excited about the car and the move.  Sorta.  She said she might go back to Stillwater Saturday nite because she was a little frightened to stay in her new apartment by herself.  LOL.  Small steps.

Borborygmi

Is it lunchtime yet?  My stomach is growling so loud I'm afraid I might get a ticket for harboring a wild animal in my office!

Dunno if anyone ever heard the George Carlin skit about the stomach growling, but he used the term "borborygmi" in the skit.  I always thought it was a made-up word, but turns out it really is a medical term.  The noise occurs when our stomach squeezes together trying to mix and digest food but there is no food.  The stomach juices move around and cause the growling noise. 

I have some very loud borborygmi going this morning!

Stuff you see sometimes

I inspected a home south of Stillwater that was damaged by the tornado that passed through the area on May 24.  The home was extensively damaged and will likely be torn down and rebuilt.  The only question is how much can be saved.  The owner was sitting on the toilet when the tornado hit.  While he was running through the house, the back wall of the house collapsed.  That is the wall of the master bedroom where the storm shelter is located.  You can see the damage in the third photo.

While walking around the house and looking at the damage, I saw this near the front doors.

Yeah, that's about a 3 foot long snake that climbed to the top of the wall and wrapped itself around one of the stones.  Looks like a ratsnake.  The owner said the snakes go up there to try and catch birds.  Weird.

What's that clicking noise?

This morning on the way to work, Debbie saw several 18-wheelers that had their left turn signal going at different spots along the interstate.  The trucks were just travelling along without turning off the signals.  Made me wonder if it was some sort of protest thing about high fuel prices?  Or, maybe all of the drivers were old guys who just forgot the signal was blinking.  Bet they kept asking themselves, "What IS that clicking noise?"

Color Purple

Kelsey visited an orthopedic surgeon this afternoon.  He is going to let the break heal up without surgery, at least for now.  No torn muscles and tendons.  Kelsey has a purple cast.  It matched her purple toenail polish.  Girls.  She has to go back next Friday to get the cast removed so the doc can check how the bone is healing.  Her ankle was swollen pretty badly today.  Hopefully by next week the swelling is down and he can check the muscles and tendons better. 

Megan has whiplash.  Jeremy might have it also.  Lucky, lucky kids.  I think Jeremy feels a little responsible for getting Kelsey hurt.  But it is not his fault at all.
