Concert night

Debbie and I went to a concert last night at the Brady Theater in Tulsa.  We saw Robert Plant for the fifth time.  The first four times we saw him in Oklahoma City.  Twice by himself.  Once with Jimmy Page during their Walking into Clarksdale tour.  We saw Robert Plant and Alison Krauss in OKC during their Raising Sand tour a couple of years ago.  Now, Robert Plant is touring with a reprised Band of Joy (Robert Plant and the Band of Joy website).  The music is a mix of soul, blues and folk music.  And of course, Led Zeppelin songs and other Robert Plant songs.  Good stuff.  Before Robert Plant joined Led Zeppelin, he was an original member and founder of the Band of Joy in England with John Bonham, who was the drummer for Led Zeppelin.  The current version of Band of Joy includes Buddy Miller and Patty Griffin.  Buddy Miller (Buddy Miller website) toured with Plant and Krauss during the Raising Sand tour.  Very good guitar player and singer.  Last nite was our first exposure to Patty Griffin (Patty Griffin website).  Not the last.  I looked her up on the www this morning.  She is well known among soul and blues music crowds.  Definitely going to learn more about her music.  Tiny, skinny gal with a huge, awesome voice.

The opening band was two guys in a band called North Mississippi Allstars (North Mississippi Allstars website).  They played some blues and folk music.  At least that's how I would describe it.  Last nite there were only two guys.  A guitar player and a drummer.  Very good.  Before the concert started, we were sitting in our seats.  We saw an tall guy with two women walk up to a group of people a few rows in front of us.  The older woman was the guy's grandmother.  The younger woman apparently was his girlfriend.  When the concert started, the tall guy sat down behind the drums.  And rocked it hard.  He played the drums, keyboards and sang.  Liked the band and plan to buy a CD of their music.

Our seats were about 50 feet from the stage.  This was our first time to attend a concert at the Brady.  Small auditorium and a great place to watch a concert.  Debbie had a good view most of the night directly at Robert Plant.  As usual with floor seats. there are people standing up who are way too tall to be standing or people sitting in front of you who are too tall to be sitting in front of you.  LOL.  There was a very tall woman about 3 rows in front of us that would stand up once in a while, which made it hard to see around her.  A couple of times, she took a perfume bottle out of her purse and sprayed perfume everywhere.  At least I hope it was perfume.  I had the munchies after the concert.  Maybe she was spraying some sort of marijuana extract...  Anyway, we had a good time and picked up a couple of new t-shirts.  Late nite getting home.

Debbie tried to take some photos, but for some reason almost none of them turned out well.  She did take some video of a few songs.  If I figure out how to post them, I will later.

Have a great day.
