Vulture attack part II

Debbie made it to OKC without another problem. Here is a photo of the damaged mirror. Have a photo trying to show the feathers stuck in a crack in the plastic, but the feathers don't show up in the photo. She didn't need any duct tape afterall. Apparently she encountered the bird just south of Celeste, so she wasn't too far down the road from Tara's. That section of road between Greenville and Celeste is treacherous. That's the same section of road that I hit the tire in the road (at nite) as Megan, Kelsey and I were going back to Stillwater the day Evie was born. That's when I ripped the back bumper off of the Mazda 6.

Anyway, glad to have Debbie home!

Vulture attacks

Debbie is on the way back to Stillwater from visiting Tara for several days. She called me a few minutes ago and said several vultures were in the middle of the highway having breakfast. As Debbie approached them, one of the birds flew toward her car and hit the driver side mirror. Apparently the impact shattered the mirror and knocked part of the mirror off the car. Glad Deb is ok and that the bird didn't go through the windshield. The whole incident is so stinkin' absurd that I couldn't keep from laughing as she's trying to ask me how to put the mirror back on the car. Of course, she's mad that her car is boogered up. She's getting the hang of redneck engineering. She was planning to stop and buy some duct tape to put the mirror on long enough to get home. LOL. Guess we'll find out how much a new side mirror costs. Poor gal. Her new car has been hit by some idiot on a motorcycle, hail and now a giant pigeon.

Photos of the damage will be posted after Debbie gets home.

Cool lightning storm

Sat outside smoking a cigar and watched a cool lightning storm moving into town from the west. There is NO wind outside. And it is very humid. Kinda spooky cool.

Megan and I went to Curly's for a charbroiled burger. Megan got a chili burger. Glad I won't be around tomorrow. It's been a long time since we went there for a burger. Pretty good.

Senator Ted Kennedy passed away last nite. The last of the JFK's siblings. Interesting watching the cable news shows and listening to some of the stories about the guy. Some good stories and some bad. Mostly good ones.

Just over a week before the first OSU football game. Kinda getting excited!

Debbie comes home tomorrow from several days in Greenville with Tara and the grandkids. Looking forward to seeing my gal. Love ya, Deb!

Have a good evening.

Boone Pickens Stadium

Couple of cool photos of Boone Pickens Stadium from the OSU Athletics website.

If you can see the white circle in the top photo, that is the area where Debbie and I will be sitting at each game. Good seats.

Debbie and I are inside the circle in the sea of Orange Power!!

Cowboys 4ever

New song for OSU Athletics. Kinda cool. Apparently OSU will play this before and during football games and other events.

Zeppelin, The Giant Dog

Kelsey brought her Great Dane, Zeppelin, over for a visit. It's been several weeks since we last saw him. He's grown alot. He must be at least 30 inches tall.

Public restrooms ain't the library

Public restrooms are, well, public. They are not intended to become someone's library away from home. The restroom in our office building is slowly becoming one tenant's personal library. He has created quite the stack of reading material on the back of the crapper. Magazines. Newspapers. Want-ads. At first, I thought maybe he was creating an emergency pile o' wiping paper in case the hockey tickets sold out. But, no. I realized he had another purpose for the literature. He sits in there two or three times a day. Reading. Not for a few minutes either. Half an hour at least sometimes. I know because we both made a dash for the restroom at the same time one day long ago, but his door is closer than mine and he got to the stall first. OK, not a big deal as I wasn't about to soil my shorts yet. I went back in there several times over the next half hour and he was still there! How do I know it's him in the stall? I recognize his shoes. How do I know he was reading? You can hear him flipping pages. I finally had to go to the women's restroom on that day. This has happened several other times. The pile of reading material is getting taller and taller. Sometimes, it falls off the back of the toilet onto the floor. Now that there is alot of reading material in there, other guys in the building are taking long craps and catching up on their reading. I am a proponent of reading, don't get me wrong. But not whilst I'm prairie dogging. Dammit. Take yer shit and move on for the next guy! This morning, the librarian wasn't in there. It was a guy from another office. He was in there for a long time, too. Good thing there are no women in this building and the women's restroom is clear for an emergency dash to drop the kids off at the pool. I don't get it. Why sit in that room long enough to read an article? If you ain't built up enough pressure to launch before you get in there, wait a while. Don't sit in there hogging the throne whilst you coax something out of the anal orifice. You ain't the only one in the building, Bub.

Just sayin'. ;)

Beautiful morning

OK. It is August 21. The temperature was 60 degrees when Debbie and I left the house for our daily journey to the big city. Wow. Very nice. Temperatures have been mostly mild this month. Climate change?

As I am typing this, my stomach is growling like crazy! I ate a bowl of cereal about 3 hours ago. Sure didn't get me far into the day. Dang. That's some loud borborigmy goin' on. Three hours til lunch. darn.

Hope the weather is nice wherever you are. Enjoy it.

See yuns.

The Captain called again

Remember this post from July? hello-this-is-your-captain-speaking. Well, that chucklehead called again today. Twice. Automated message about a cruise for your employees. I wish that peg-legged, whale chasin', barnacle encrusted fool would take a ride on the USS Minnow and stop calling!!

Woodstock

The greatest, or most famous, rock and roll event, called Woodstock, happened 40 years ago in New York state. Would have been cool to be there, in my opinion. One of the local classic rock stations has been playing Woodstock related stuff, songs and trivia, all since the weekend. Found this on the www. Forty far out fact you didn't know about Woodstock.

FAR OUT, MAN!

Uncle Zeb

Dunno if anyone else remembers this guy, but I watched Uncle Zeb when I was a kid. Kinda like a local Captain Kangaroo. That was when we had three channels (four if the UHF was working). Corny television to watch after school. But, he showed cartoons. Uncle Zeb passed away at age 77.

Raining again!

It is raining again today. We've had alot over the last few days. Is this August? Wow.

I was really tired yesterday and went to bed before Debbie did. She was in the living room and said she could hear me snoring through the closed door and the walls. LMAO. Feeling much better today. Apparently all I needed was some log sawing.

Have a good day.

Congratulations, Megan!!

Just read in the Stillwater NewsPress that Megan made the summer honor roll. Waytago!!

Lightning in a bottle

There are some large storms passing near Stillwater tonite. After we got home, I mowed the lawn and was sitting on the patio as it started getting dark. While out there, I watched the lightning show. Pretty spectacular and fun to watch. I tried to take some photos of the lightning. Man, it's hard but I got three photos with a little something on them. I didn't put one of them on here because there isn't much on it. I took about 30 photos of darkness. LOL.

Debbie made dinner on Saturday. One of the potatoes was a valentine tater.

Debbie and I ate dinner at Rib Crib with Megan. The newbie 21 year old bought a mixed drink. Don't remember what it was called, but it had champagne, vodka and peach schnapps. It was a large, smoothie-looking drink. Debbie had to "help" Megan a little on drinking it. Good dinner of ribs, pulled pork, fried catfish, chicken. yum.

Have a good evening.
