Fun Saturday

Debbie and I got up early this morning and went to Ft. Smith to check out the antique stores in that area.  I always check Yahoo and see what shops are listed on the internet.  When we get to the area we are visiting, Debbie uses the GPS to find the stores.  Sometimes it works pretty well.  Other times, we end up on a wild goose chase.  A few times, the GPS has directed us through some residential areas looking for a business.  Sometimes, the business we are searching for no longer exists.  We had all of that today.

We did not find as many shops in Ft. Smith as was listed on the internet.  We ate lunch and found one of the antique stores.  Debbie found a cook book.  We travelled around Ft. Smith looking for the shops using the GPS before giving up and going to Van Buren.  The shops we found in Van Buren were in an old historic area.  Most of the shops were closed for some reason.  I found a neat coffee mug in one of the shops that was open.  We went back to Ft. Smith and found one of the shops that was on the internet list.  It was in an old house that must have been really cool when people were living there.  There were rooms and little nooks and crannies all over the place with furniture and stuff.  Debbie went upstairs and I went down from the main level to an old enclosed porch.  I found two old trunks for $60 each.  Debbie and I see these all over the place, but for alot more money and not in as good condition.  We bought one for Megan, who wants to make a coffee table out of it somehow.  This one should work pretty well.

Van Buren, Arkansas.  At least, this is the part of Van Buren we saw.  Neat area with art shops, restaurants and antique stores.

An old Masonic Lodge.

Neat bank buildings.

This is the trunk we found in Ft. Smith.

This label is on one end of the trunk.

There was an air show going on in Ft. Smith.  Debbie tried to take photos of the planes flying around.  She finally got an airplane in a photo after getting mostly the smoke.  hee hee hee

We wanted to eat dinner in Tulsa.  We can search for restaurants using our GPS.  Debbie found a restaurant called the Green Onion and we decided to try it.  When we got there, it was out of business.  I guess I need to update the GPS.  LOL.

Debbie bought these necklaces about a month ago in OKC.

Hope everyone else had a good Saturday, too.
