Graceland

Man, it has been a long time since I posted on here.  Facebook has become the place to post stuff about our family.

Debbie and I went to Savannah, Georgia and we stopped at Graceland as we passed through Memphis.  I did not realize how much Debbie liked Elvis until about a few months ago when there was an Elvis concert on cable television.  Since then, we have watched one or two Elvis movies.

Graceland was really cool to visit.  Very nice house.  Amazing that Lisa Marie has pretty much kept it exactly as it was when her daddy passed away.  The decor is definitely 1970's.  It would be great to visit the upstairs area, but that is off limits to tourists.  We were able to see the basement and first floor only.

Lisa Marie's swingset.  The building is where Vernon, Elvis' dad, had his office (behind the swingset).  Elvis' shooting range is through the door on the right.

Horse pastures behind the house.

Trophy building next to the house at the end of the covered walkway in the backyard.  The following photos are some of what you can see inside the trophy room.  Lots of gold records, movie posters and memorabilia from Elvis' movies.

Elvis liked to play racquetball and built this building next to the horse pasture.  It is now a museum filled with gold records and memorabilia from his concerts.

The Meditation Garden where Elvis, his parents and grandmother are buried.

There are several souvenir shops across the street from the mansion.  These murals are on the walls outside where you purchase tickets to see the mansion and other museum exhibits.  The murals are made from photos of Elvis' fans.

Debbie and I had dinner in the Rock and Roll Diner.  Pretty cool.  One of the menu items was a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich.  The lady who took our order told Debbie they sell a bunch of those sandwiches.  We had burgers and fries, which were very good.
