Nana went rogue on us last nite after seeing kids in nearby neighborhoods trick-or-treating. Last nite was the official Halloween in Stillwater. City officials changed trick-or-treat nite from Saturday to Thursday to avoid conflicts with the OSU football game. Anyway. Fortunately for the kids, none of the little nose miners stopped by for treats. Witchy-poo had the oven heated up. Pretty sure she was gonna pull a Hanzel and Gretel on 'em. I would have warned the little munchkins, but the Witchinator cast a spell of silence on me with those socks. Later, she painted her face green. At least I think she painted it. Could have been part of the transformation from Nana to Poke-Witch. Also, she turned me into a newt. The spell was brief, thankfully. It's a horrible thing to spend a few hours looking like Gingrich. I'm better now. Hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.

It's Raining!
Wow. There is a deluge here. Tornado watch. Debbie and I saw a bunch of lightning this morning on the way to work. Spectacular in the darkness. This is October... right? Not springtime?

Pioneer Woman
Yesterday, Tara blogged about a recipe she used from the Pioneer Woman's website. I opened yesterday's Tulsa World and found a front page article about... the Pioneer Woman's new cookbook. Coinkydink? whoa. Tara, I assume you know she lives near Pawhuska, Oklahoma?

Birthday Party
Spent Saturday morning celebrating Evie's 5th and Maggie's 3rd birthday. Maggie already had her birthday on August 8. Evie will have her's on Dec. 15. Tara and John took the kids to a children's museum in Commerce, Texas. Pretty cool place. Kids had a blast. So did Evie and Maggie. hee hee. But first, Evie and Maggie fun pics.

More Reaction Time Fun
I get around a 0.25 average on this one. Stop Light
Best average time so far is 0.212. Red Dot
This one is kinda fun. There are 6 rows of white dots. When the game starts, a green dot appears in one white dot. Click the green dots one at a time as they move around among the white dots. I got 33 in the 30 second time span. Hit the Dot
You have to shoot tranquilizer darts at the five sheep escaping the herd. Click the dart at the bottom of the screen when each sheep tries to escape. My best time so far was 0.23 average. Stop the Sheep
Kinda fun. Definitely a time waster. LOL

Reaction Time
Kinda fun. See if your reaction time is good enough to hit a 90 mph fastball. My best time was 0.17 seconds. My reaction time was so good one time that the pitcher had not thrown the ball yet. Guess that doesn't count, huh? Well, I'm sure those of you who are less lethargic will do better than my best time. hee hee
Baseball reaction time

Facebook game
I'm hooked on the Facebook game, Mahjong. I'm nowhere near as good as Debbie and her friend, Angie. Their scores are consistently in the 3000+ range. Mine are generally in the low to mid 2000's. I've made over 3000 a few times. Anyway, when Debbie plays she's clicking really fast on stuff or so it seems. Last nite I was sitting beside her while playing. She was doing something with the checkbook. I saw her looking over at me hunting and pecking. I got a sense that she wanted to rip the mouse out of my hand and go to work. LOL. Guess it's kinda like watching someone play solitaire and you cannnot figure out why they don't see the red eight goes on the black nine. hee hee.
Stinkin' Weather!!!
We had a really nice weekend. Sunshine. Not too cool. Good for parades and football games. Should have gone outside and looked at the stars while I had a chance, but didn't. Early Wednesday morning was supposed to be good for meteor shower viewing. Guess what? Clouds. Dangit.
Debbie is working at the Crossroads Mall office now. Actually, her office is not in the mall but across the street next door to Toys R Us. I know that really helps everyone understand where the office is located, right? LOL. She's not really in the mall is my point. Anyway, DHS decided to consolidate all of the long-term care units spread out around the OKC metro into one office. I think Debbie said all of the units are now in the Crossroads office. That office has an alternative work schedule where she can work 9 hour days for 8 days and one 8 hour day to get every other Friday off. That's pretty cool. We have to get up early enough to get her to work by 7:30 every morning instead of 8 am. Working out good so far. Allows us to miss most of the crazy morning traffic and I can get into the office earlier, too.
Kelsey took the grumpy old-man cat, Jake, to the vet yesterday morning. He's had a patch of raw skin under his neck for a while. Debbie and Kelsey, mostly Kelsey, has tried to put meds on it for a while. Jake mostly ain't having none of that stuff. He was under the dining table the other nite hissing at Kelsey while she was trying to put meds on his neck using a cotton ball. LOL. At least he stopped hissing at me for a minute. hee hee. Vet said Jake had a "hot spot". Whatever that means. Gave him a shot, antibiotics and some meds Kelsey needs to apply to help it heal up.
Couple of days til we go to Greenville for the Evie and Maggie birthday party. Should be fun!
Have a good day.

Spider in the dark
I was sitting on the couch checking out sports stuff on the www when Debbie came through the kitchen carrying the garbage bag. She was headed toward the back door to the trash container. I told her I'd take it out and she bolted out the door. I chased her onto the back patio. She got to the edge of the patio, stopped suddenly and handed me the bag. "I'll let you take it. There might be a spider out there." LOL. It's dark and sometimes after sunset, those big hairy spiders build webs between the corner of the house and the fence. Cracked me up.
Nuh, uh!
I hadda scrape the car windows this morning before I could leave the house to head toward OKC. Not frost. ICE! There was a heavy dew and it FROZE on the windows! That's what I said. "Nuh, uh!" The sky sure was clear and alot of stars visible, too.
See yuns.

Old blog revisited
I attended a seminar earlier this week and stayed for the lunch. Lunch is always a guess about what kind of food will be served. If I can avoid it I do so. But I saw several people that I went to OSU with and some other engineers that I had not seen in quite some time, so I stayed for lunch. Depending on the seminar location and sponsor(s), the lunch can be buffet-style or we sit and the meal is brought to the table. Earlier this week, it was buffet-style. As we stood in line, I kept wondering what was in the pans on the table. Mystery meat of some kind, I assumed. Actually, it turned out to be brisket and grilled chicken, so it was easily recognizable. And very good for a change. Wondering about the mystery meat made me think of an entry I put on the old Yahoo blog site on June 18, 2008.
Debbie is at a seminar all day for DHS. Hope she got something besides mystery meat for lunch. If you've ever been to a seminar where lunch is catered, you might be able to relate to this. Sometimes you cannot tell what kind of meat is being served. It always appears to be chicken, but it's an odd cut of meat. Not a breast or leg. Although I got something once that had a miniature chicken leg attached to it. I assumed it was the part of the wing that looks like a small chicken leg attached to breast meat, but the meat attached to the miniature chicken leg did not appear to be chicken breast meat. I wonder if it was some conglomeration of animals kinda like the jackalope. It looks real, but it ain't. Generally, the meat is some strange looking shape that cannot be discerned as having once been a leg, breast, thigh or butt. When the dish is placed in front of us, it is funny look around at the others sitting at the table. Everyone has the puzzled look on their face. All of us asking the same question, "What is this?" while probing the meat with a fork. As fas as I know, the meat has not made a noise or moved when probed. The sauce generally hides the flavor (or lack thereof) of the meat. Sometimes the meat has a rubbery consistency, so you are never sure if it is natural or synthetic. Typically, the meat is accompanied by fresh veggies. Thin cut carrots, brocolli, green beans... something recognizable. Before the main dish, they serve a salad, or so they claim. Most often the salad appears to consist of all the same types of weeds I mowed down over the weekend in my yard. They put enough vinegrette or some other type of salad dressing on it to hide the milkweed flavor. In my opinion, a salad has lettuce. It could be iceberg or leaf lettuce. I have no preference. Maybe throw in some spinach. Carrots, boiled eggs and cheese are a nice touch. Purple cabbage is ok. The seminar caterer will have none of that. I have no idea what type of flora is used for the seminar salads, but I am pretty sure I know what Ole Bessy would have been munching on in the pasture if the caterer had not been there first. I hope Debbie has better luck with her lunch.

Rain, rain, rain and no cable tv
Man, oh, man, has it been raining! wow. At the office, we had torrential rain for about 3 hours during the afternoon. I think we could have done some white water kayaking down the street. Amazing. I watched the Nebraska vs. Missouri football game last nite and it was raining like crazy throughtout that game in Columbia, Missouri. I read this morning there was over 5 inches of rain in Columbia yesterday. That's just crazy. Every time the guys hit the turf there was a huge splash.
The cable tv went out this morning just after I got up. It was out the entire time we were getting ready for work. Debbie called the 24/7 hotline for the cable service about 15 minutes before we left for work to let them know the cable service was not working. She talked to a guy somewhere in Texas who told Debbie that he could tell we were having really bad weather in Stillwater. Debbie told him, "Not at my house." The guy then told her he was looking at weather info for Stillwater, Texas. LOL! Debbie set up a service call to the house. Not long after her call the cable service came back on. Kinda wierd.
Debbie bought an iPod Touch for her birthday. She was trying to get it working last nite without much success. Guess that will be our task tonite. Darned electronics...

Morning rush
Good humpday morning.
This morning, Debbie and I were running about 15 minutes early so traffic wasn't too bad yet. There is one area where I-35, I-40 and I-235 merge and the traffic can be kinda hairy. I'm sure that compared to LA, Chicago, DC, Dallas, Atlanta, and some other bigger cities, it's nothing. But there can be heavy traffic none-the-less. I generally have to make a "big city" move and cut across 4 lanes of southbound traffic to get to the exit for Debbie's office. That was easier today since there were not many cars. The northbound traffic is usually moving slowly and all lanes are packed. Today, the cars in those lanes were moving at a relatively brisk pace. Debbie said, "That fraffic is trolling pretty good." Got her merds wixed up. LOL.

Toosdee
I stayed in Stillwater today for a daylong engineering seminar at OSU. We didn't have the mystery meat for lunch. That makes me think of a post I made on the other blog about Debbie attending a seminar. Maybe I need to find that and repost it.
Debbie stayed in Stillwater, too. She spent the day taking care of some business and doing a bit of shopping. She bought a few blouses and a sweater. Debbie tried on the sweater to show it to me and commented, "The sleeves are supposed to be three-quarter length but I think they are a little longer than than. About three-fourths." As I was walking into the kitchen laughing, she said, "That's the same thing, huh?" Yup. We both got a good laugh out of that one.
The other day she was cooking something and wanted to know what was half-way between 1/4 and 1/2. I said, "Three eighths." She said I was a nerd for knowing that so quickly. Um, guess so. But I know three-quarters is the same as three-fourths pretty quickly, too. LMAO.
Have a good one!

Sleeping in
or not. Debbie and I stayed up late last nite watching a movie. Went to bed around 1:30 am. Both of us were awake and up by 7:30. Nice day to catch a few extra zzz's and neither of us can do it. Dang. Oh, well. Getting caught up on the pile of newspapers laying around. hee hee.
Debbie is making a pot of stew. Love that stuff. yum.
