Hanging Stanley

On the way to get Debbie, I stopped by an old building that I'm helping renovate.  As I was finishing taking measurements of some existing framing, the Stanley measuring tape got stuck between the top of a beam and the bottom of the metal deck.  It was about 5 feet above my head.  I could not reach it or get it loose until I found a long stick.  Here's a photo of the tape hanging from the beam just before I got it loose.  Cracked me up.

LOL - Stanley lived through it :).

How did it get stuck that far above your head? You're measuring it and let it go, then it pulled itself up that far?

While standing on the floor, I extended the end of the tape until it was against the bottom of the floor so I could see how deep the beam is. The hook at the end of the tape caught between the top of the beam and the deck. I tried shaking the tape to get it loose but the tape was extended too far. There is a lock button on the tape box. I locked the tape so it would not recoil and left it hanging at about head height above the floor until I found something to get it loose. Looked funny just hanging there like that. I was getting nervous that I'd have to leave it cuz it took awhile to find something I could use. LOL

Oh, I get it. :) I thought the box part was 5 feet above your head. I didn't see how that could happen! Funny it got wedged in there enough that you couldn't get it out!
