Deb and I made it back to Oklahoma. Good to be home, but work begins again tomorrow. Bummer for that. We had a good time hanging out together, which was the whole point of going somewhere.
Took a few photos of the Las Palomas hotel before we left. The hotel is in a residential area west of Santa Fe's historic plaza. There isn't really one building, but several scattered around the neighborhood. I believe some of the "rooms" were homes at one time. The others were either constructed to resemble a pueblo or perhaps were at one time residences that were renovated into "rooms" or apartments like the one we stayed in. Kinda cool.
Las Palomas Hotel office entrance. The next two photos are in the courtyard near the office.
The photo below is one of the La Tienda apartment on the corner about a half block east of the offices and about a half block south of the courtyard to our room. The La Tienda appears to be a former residence. The Las Palomas website states the building was an old store that was renovated to become part of the hotel
The entrance to the parking courtyard that leads to our room.
The next few photos are in the parking courtyard. There was a totem pole near each of the two entrances to the courtyard. Not sure why we pretended to hug the totem. hee hee. We went to our room by walking past the buildings in the first photo, through a gate and down a walkway between a few buildings. Each building had two or three "rooms" of various sizes. Each "room" had a living room, kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom.
The following photo shows the gate to the walkway toward our room.
Another totem pole in the walkway that led to more rooms. Our room is behind me.

We ate lunch in Amarillo at the Big Texan restaurant. This is the place that will give anyone a free meal if they can eat the 72 ounce steak, baked potato, salad and texas toast. I have too many feathers on my legs to try it. On Friday nite, Deb and I went to a restaurant called the Railyard Steak House. Their Friday special was a 36 ounce prime dinner for two. Dang. "Two" my hiney. That would be about 4 meals for us. We didn't try that one either.
Deb came out of the restaurant as I was about to take the following photo. She tried to hide behind one of the porch posts. I waited until she came down the steps before taking the photo. hee hee.
Got home about 7 and met Megan and Kelsey for dinner. Good to see them again. Monday starts the work week. Doh.
